Operational Recovery
Different from Disaster Recovery, which can best be described as loss of processing capability or loss of data at a primary site, where a fail-over to a secondary site might be executed, Operational Recovery is described as day-to-day data recover requests or requirements that occur in the normal handling and use of the data. Every day and in every business, data is lost or corrupted beyond use. The cause of the data loss can be human error, hardware error or external forces and for the most part some data loss is unavoidable. In any regard, whether a single critical file or a large complex database, the lost data needs to be recovered. The ability to successfully recover the data in a quick and complete way is completely dependent on the process used to originally protect the data. A large percentage of data recovery failure is due to inadequate backup processes.
Within minutes of data loss or corruption, DR-Scout can generate a view of a disk volume or file as it existed moments before the data loss or corruption, allowing for fast and assured recovery of the data. How it Works:
DR-Scout provides non-disruptive Continuous Data Protection to allow for instant recovery back to any point in time or any business event. Unlike other host-only-based approaches that severely impact production hosts, DR-Scout offloads retention, encryption and compression functions to an out-of-band server. Many times, the reason for not performing the recovery or waiting until after-hours is that it is usually a difficult and time-consuming process. With DR-Scout the process for recovering a single file or an entire database for that matter is as simple as selecting the files to be recovered, selecting a time to recover from and pressing “go”. Within a minute, the data will be presented to the administrator to be copied back to its original location.
Non-Intrusive Operation: While the loss of data may be intrusive, DR-Scout provides a non-intrusive operation to protect and recover your data. By off-loading the protection processing from the production systems and moving it to backend target machines through an “out-of-band” appliance, DR-Scout is able to smooth the backup processing, eliminate the backup window and provide virtually unlimited recovery points to ensure all data can be recovered in a timely and accurate fashion.
